"A Hidden Gem in Kent"

After the studies soon after we started working full time, to be precises when we became rich for the first time. We used to go out for day trips nearer location in East Sussex. One such palace is Dungeness, often erroneously named as a dessert in the southernmost point of Kent, England. A End of the world feel village. A palace with post-apocalyptic landscape, haunting and mysterious atmosphere. A palace which i saw in movie  Rattle snake . I know you might have  not seen this movies. What i tried to say is that this place looks creepy.

 But i really like this place and its atmosphere. Dungeness means" Dangerous Nose "which is a reference of the land jutting out to the English Channel. There is no much to see but it is worth a visit with world's smallest passenger train and the largest shingle beach in Europe. Dungeness is a haven for wildlife and over 600 species of plants. Dungeness cant be called a village more like it is a hamlet which own  a Nuclear plant station. We took a wrong turn to Nuclear plant entrance at the beginning. Later with the help of google maps we reached the correct place. I was asking to myself, are we drive a long way to a no human  existent place . It takes  3hrs and 40 mints to reach from London. It will be hard to reach by train or bus. This place is best accessed with a car. Free car parking is available in the RSBP Nature reserve. On a clear day, you can see the coast of France from Dungeness which is 29 miles away.

We also visited the smallest passenger train .Romney Hythe and Dymchurch railway trains was opened in 1927 as the smallest passenger train in the world which runs between Hythe to Lighthouse in Dungeness. This train arrives in Dungeness and give one hour to explore to the visitors. The part i loved most was the abandoned fishing boats left on the beach. It really look like art peace exhibited in  Biennale .My eyes hooked on twisted and rusted rail tracks across the beach which is detached from the actual rail lines. It turns out that fisher men used to pull down the boats to water. Dungeness is considered one of the best place for fishing. Dungeness beach's are allowed for fishing. There are off-limit for public to the containers left on beach where the fishermen's keep their equipment. 

Dungeness hold unofficial title for being a dessert because of the landscape. There have been eight light house in Dungeness. The most notable one was the one painted in black and white and is till working. This is painted black and white to stand out for mariners during day light. This light house give an eerie texture to Dungeness. We had a pizza and had a drink from The Britannia Inn which is the only Pub in Dungeness.
