Edinburgh

Royal Mile.

Walking through Royal mile is the top things to do in Edinburgh. This 1.8 km / 1,13 mile street  take us back to old times. I am a shopaholic so i really enjoyed walking through Royal Mile. This wonderful street is the main attraction in Old Town. The  cobbled paved street  path start from the Castle and ends at Palace of Holyrood house. There are plenty of narrow alleys called Close. The name Royal Mile came from ‘miles’ which is the length of road in  1 Scottish miles and ‘Royal’ comes from the tradition which was a route for possessions for kings and Queens. You can see the traditional Scottish  piper playing is pip on the street which give you a real Scottish vibe.  .There are plenty of Scottish souvenir shops .I was hoping on to each and every shops to see what they offer.

Edinburgh

The ground is not to bad to walk but i wont recommend heels. It was fascinating that there were no much restaurants in Royal Mile. You can walk by your own or hire a guided tour for more historic information. There are small narrow alley ways  in Royal mile which is called Close. It is really exciting to walk through it. These alleys are steep passages with steps .It is easy to go down but climbing back is something i always  rethink. There are guided tour for this Closes were you can see secret streets .

Edinburgh Castle
Edinburgh Castle

Edinburgh Castle is located atop Castle Rock, which was formed when a volcano exploded nearby many centuries ago. Since the Bronze Age, or over 3000 years ago, there has been evidence of human habitation on the summit of Castle Rock. The Castle was built in the first century of the 12th. Already, more than a million people have visited. We started seeing The Castle from the distance as we enter the city center in bus. It can be seen from every direction. As we were shot on time ,entry to  the castle was not in our list. The Edinburgh Castle was perched on the Top of an extinct Volcano. The Castle is dated back to 7th Century. The ticket price for entry through online is 17£ and gate charge is 21£ (16 -64yrs).For kids 5-15 years it is 11£ online and gate price is 12.50£. To get to Edinburgh Castle you have to be early to beat the crowd. I have heard there is a Witches Well  ,were about 300 witches were burned. There are Audio tour and guided tour available at the entrance. As we are shot on time we skip this Iconic Attraction for next time.

Sir Walter Scott Monument.

Scot Monument

Most of the people might not know about Sir Walter Scott  In fact he is one of the most famous writer and Lawyer. In addition to being a lawyer, novelist, and poet, he was also a significant public figure, a sheriff, a lawyer, and an advocate for the ongoing union of Scotland and England. In 1822, he orchestrated King George IV's storied visit to Edinburgh, the first British monarch to enter the city in more than 170 years. This spectacular monument is also called Gothic rocket Ship. Paid entry is permitted to this monument  which has 287 steps with no handrails. The building features pointed arches, flying buttresses, and ribbed vaults, all of which are typical of the Gothic style. 64 figures, many of whom are characters throughout Sir Walter's writings, notably Rob Roy MacGregor, are carved onto the building's façade. Up until the 1880s, these were constructed in 3 parts. Moreover, there are statues of menacing-looking dragons that protrude from each corner of the house. Four enormous piers of closely spaced shafts that face the pinnacle appear to have been inspired by Kemp's travels around Europe. specifically the tower at St. Maclou in Rouen, the churches in Reims and Antwerp.

St, Giles Cathedral, Edinburgh.

St Giles Cathedral

Cathedral and Abbeys are a common seen throughout England. It is the face of History and culture .St. Giles' is located in the Centre of the city, and if you have an hour to spare, you may visit this stunning church and learn about its fascinating history. St. Giles' Cathedral is a hidden gem on Edinburgh's Royal Mile and is a serene yet stunning cathedral. This cathedral, which is officially known as the High Kirk of St. Giles, serves as the spiritual Centre of the Presbyterian Church of Scotland. Even while it lacks the scale and opulence of Westminster Abbey or York Minster, it still has a peaceful beauty that makes a stay there worthwhile while travelling through Edinburgh.

St Giles Cathedral

Edinburgh

St. Giles is the ideal place to learn about the fascinating and long-lasting histories of the Scottish people, government, and church. When my friends was busy with souvenir shopping i had a quick look around the Cathedral. It is beautiful and gothic inside. St. Giles' Cathedral isn't very elaborate, but that doesn't imply it's a plain structure. The stonework's intricate craftsmanship is still stunning, and it is rather lovely. The interior is a little bit harder to see in, but that's true of most cathedrals as light wasn't a major consideration when these buildings were being erected in the high middle ages.

 Victoria Street, Edinburgh.

Victoria Street is the one for you if you enjoy vibrant colorful streets. You'll find a good amount of eateries and unique stores, including a few with Harry Potter themes .The street bends down a slope, which provides for a very distinctive picture. Nonetheless, expect to see vehicles and people virtually always, so don't hope to capture an image of an empty road here. Without a drone, you may also enjoy an overhead view of the street if you ascend the staircase to the second floor. We walked around Victoria Streets took picture and reels. Bought Harry Potter  souvenirs. There are so many stores and excellent restaurants lining the street. I went into The Boy Wizard, a pretty cool store that is jam-packed with Harry Potter souvenirs. The Grassmarket is near to the Victoria Street. Grassmarket is held every Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm where you can buy local fruit, meats, and cheeses as well as baked products and beer.
