A day trip to Seven Sisters Cliff. Things you should know to have a wonderful hike.
SEVEN SISTERS CLIFF
ENGLAND
I have visited Seven Sisters Cliff numerous time as i live in Eastbourne ,but a hike to the top was for the first time. Usually we choose a spot and spend some times there. But this time took a bus intending to hike to cliff from South Down National Park. We were three and it cost only 4 £ for two adults and free for one child aged 12 for bus from Eastbourne to South Down National park. Is it a hike or is it a walk? Honestly there was steep climbing so definitely it is a hike ,but a moderate one. Kids and elderly people also can hike here. As it was a sunny spring day we saw many people around enjoying the hike and view. We took 3-4 hours to hike around. It can really go around 7 hours for the whole Seven Sisters Cliff hike. We also stopped for taking pictures and for leisure.
CUCKMERE HEAVEN
The Seven sisters are a group of white chalk cliffs along the East Sussex county coast of the English Channel. The sequence begins just east of Cuckmere Heaven as it moves from west to east. Each of the cliff's summits and the gullies in between are given a name. The summits are italicised in the list below. There are seven hills total, and the sea's erosion has added an eighth.
As in my opinion the most beautiful view of the Seven Sisters cliff is from the Coast Guard Cottage at Cuckmere Heaven. The view from here is stunning. The beautiful backdrop had been in many Movies including Harry Potter and Robin Hood.
BIRLING GAP & BEACHY HEAD
Birling Gap is to the east of the final peak. Beachy Head is located beyond Belle Tout Lighthouse, which is located on top of the next hill. The later headland is designated by a lighthouse in the water. The south down way follows a highly wavy path along the edge of the cliffs. Numerous local landmarks bear the names of Cliff. The Battle of Britain was fought overhead Birling Gap. The Belle Tout Lighthouse becomes Operational at 1834 before WW1.In 1902 when the Beachy Head Light house became operational ,the Belle Toot Lighthouse became decommissioned. The History of this chalk cliffs are backed to 100 Million BC. This Little place had undergone Shipwrecks, smuggling, Cliff Erosion, WWW1,WW2.Cliff Falls are often at the places .So when you are here don't go too close to the cliff edge . In whole of Seven Sisters Cliff view points Birling Gap is the busiest and crowded .There is facilities like toilets, shops, café and car Park as well. People from Different park of globe visit Seven Sisters cliff.
The best view points to enjoy Seven Sister Cliff in my opinion is hiking along the edge which take the county Park trail which take 12 km to reach Beachy Head. Beach Walking which is walking through the beach were we can see the Chalk cliff from below. Instead of going to county park you can also go to Beachy head and Birling Gap. Lastly the classic view the coast guard cottages with a stunning view. If you are coming from London it will take only 1.30 hr direct train from London Victoria to Eastbourne .And from there 12X/ 12A bus which can take 20 min. If you are coming from Brighton there is 12A /12 X bus every 40 minutes. You can also get here by car .There a parking lot at the entrance of Seven Sisters county Park.
The hike is insanely beautiful. The view is breathtaking. If you are in England this is a must visit place. I also have a back story to tell. A couple of years ago while at home in India i used to read travel blogs and watch vlogs. I came to read about Seven Sisters Cliff. After reading i did ask myself. Will i be able to see this ever in my life ? To me it was too far. But destiny brought me here .Now i live in Eastbourne ,the town close to the cliff. We can never know what is coming in to our life. First time when i visited Seven sisters cliff, i did tell myself “see where are you standing now”. To know about my seaside town Eastbourne click here.
