Free things to do in London
LONDON:THE CITY OF DREAM
Before i start with the free things to do in London. London for me is a fairy tale. I am living my life as if in a fairy tale, but mine is different from the story in books. Re-locating to London was not easy, emotionally and physically. Everything just happened in a blink of eye. It was super hard to leave my people behind and to board the flight with a one way ticket. London is one among the top tourist destination . Millions of people visit in an year from around the world. London has one of the most busiest Airport , London Heathrow Airport. Despite of the expensive London expectation there is loads of things to do for free in London. I strongly recommend you to visit London at least once in your life time. First Thing first ,let me take you through some exiting free things to do the most busiest city in United Kingdom. I bet, you can survive at least two days without spending nothing for entrance fee in London.
TOWER BRIDGE
No one who visited the London had never missed the iconic Tower Bridge. I had a miss conception about Tower Bridge and The London Bridge before visiting. The main landmark of London and the Iconic symbol of London is first one on the list. Getting to Tower Bridge is quite easy. London is well connected with buses and tubes. The nearest underground tube station is Tower Hill and nearest bus stop is tower hill /tower gateway station. Tower bridge is a collection of three bridges in fact. A suspension bridge, a cantilevered section on top and a bascule bridge that open up to let ships pass through. I have never been to top section yet. But you can walk around the bridge ,enjoy the themes river and take pictures as much as you can. This area is really a touristy thing as it consist of south bank walkway, borough market, Tower of London & Hey's Galleria. You can also purchase a paid tour for Tower Bridge. It is 11.40 pounds and 5.70 pound for kids.
LONDON BRIDGE
This is the old nursery rhyme fame London bridge . London bridge is not that hyped like the above one. It is a box girde bridge made of concrete and steel which is across the River Themes which has a history dated back to 2000 years. But London bridge is surrounded by some of the city's most famous landmarks like The Shard ,HMS Belfast , Tower Bridge and the exciting British culture.
THE NATIONAL GALLERY
The National Gallery building remind me of the bank of Spain in Money Heist Series. It's a wonder inside. The aesthetic of the building inside is mesmerizing. It is a neoclassic building and is a kind of maze inside with huge wall frames and beautiful domes. Even it has a free entry, you have to book in advance for time slots for entry. 10 am to 6pm is the entry time expect on Fridays. On Fridays it is from 10 am to 9pm. Always check the website for the places you are planning to visit .There will be Post-Covid restriction or festival holidays ,so check the website before you start the trip. I love art galleries ,even i don't have knowledge on it. I love to roam around . The National Gallery has paintings dated from mid-13th century to 1900. This is a massive gallery with huge and small painting. There are coffee shop ,Souvenir shop and toilet for refreshment inside the National Gallery.
BIG BEN
There are a lot of landmark as usual things we see on wall papers and Ads. Big Ben for me is such a thing. A clock tower building seen on wallpapers. Big Ben is the one of the top attraction in London. It is also called as Elizabeth Tower which has a largest bell inside it. As it is located in Westminster ,it is easily accessible from Westminster underground station. The clock and the bell illuminate at night. So it is hot spot for photography even at night. The Big Ben and UK Parliament tour is allowed only for UK residence. Unfortunately its entry is paused for restoration works. The entry will be resumed hopefully this year.
LONDON EYE
The London eye is Europe's tallest Ferry wheel and most popular paid attraction with 4 million visitors a year. It is a paid attraction ,only if you want to see the city from above or else you can visit this giant wheel at the closest. You can see this huge wheel even from Westminster bridge and the closest is the Queens Walk. There are plenty of entertainment taking place in Queens walk at evenings. As it is walking distance from Big ben you can either get off at Westminster underground station or Waterloo station .It cost 34 pounds for standard ticket and 53 pounds for fast track which help you to skip the line.
I swear you will be tired by now walking around. There are plenty of parks ,Squares ,Streets which you can walk around for free in London. London can be easily accessible by Tubes and Buses. All the attractions mentioned above can also be accessed by underground and buses. There is an other side for London .Which is a city of Skyscrapers. Click here to see the high rise buildings.
